The Outdoor Education program is built around the concept of experiential learning–learning by doing–as a powerful way to get students excited about the outdoors and interested in learning about the natural world. Through a variety of Academic and Adventure courses, students are engaged in hands-on discovery, problem-solving, and group development. All of our courses are designed to meet both your class needs as well as the current TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills), and are facilitated by our highly trained and engaging staff.
We believe that the outdoor classroom provides an ideal setting for students to enjoy learning by exploration and discovery, helping to cement content in the minds of students in a fresh and creative environment. Students are able to see scientific and mathematical principles at work in real life examples, live out scenes of history, and come face-to-face with nature as they learn about local environment and wildlife.
But why go to camp? In addition to placing students in distraction-free setting, the camp experience allows faculty and students to share quality time outside of the classroom, strengthening relationships and encouraging communication back at school. During the day, students will participate in challenges designed to encourage teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. In the evenings, students will enjoy fun activities such as campfire programs, game nights, and skits.
The Outdoor Education Program is available for public, private, and home schools, and can be experienced as a one-to-three day program, with the length of stay, and number of courses and meals customized to provide you and your students with a meaningful and memorable experience.
